Sun Protection
Combine SUNSENSE with common sense this summer… It doesn’t matter whether your skin tans or not – you still need protection from the sun's UV rays.
To minimize the risk of sunburn combine the use of a good sunscreen with the following:
- Minimise sun exposure between the hours of 10am to 4pm when the sun is strongest.
- When out in the sun apply sunscreen to all exposed areas of skin, wear a broad rimmed hat and a t-shirt of closely woven material.
- Sunscreen should be applied to clean, dry skin, 15 minutes before exposure to the sun – this allows the sunscreen to bond to the skin.
- Re-apply sunscreen at least every two hours especially after swimming, exercise, heavy perspiration and toweling dry.
- Apply sunscreen even when sitting in the shade. Surfaces such as sand, water, snow and concrete can reflect the sun’s rays even though you are in the shade.
- Apply sunscreen on overcast days. The sun’s rays can damage your skin on cloudy days too.
- Use sunscreen during high altitude activities such as skiing and mountain climbing. High altitudes increase the risk of sunburn because there is less atmosphere to absorb the sun’s rays.
SUNSENSE sunscreens are specially formulated to provide high SPFs to protect against sunburn and help prevent premature ageing and skin cancer due to sun exposure. They are also easy to apply and non-greasy, and SUNSENSE has a formulation for the whole family. |
