At Douglas we have a variety of training and development programmes to satisfy both our legislative requirements and to meet our business & market needs.
Training & Development
New Employee Induction
When a new employee begins at Douglas they are required to complete a comprehensive induction programme which focuses on key aspects of the company:
• The Douglas Business
• The Douglas Culture & Values
• Health & Safety at Douglas
• Good Manufacturing Practice
New employees also receive significant on-the-job training which includes detailed explanations and demonstrations of equipment and processes as outlined in the company's standard operating procedures.

cGxP Training
All Douglas employees complete Introductory Good Manufacturing Practice training within the first 3 months of employment irrespective of their area of responsibility. Annual cGxP refresher workshops are also required.
QC Laboratory employees, and employees as specified, will also be required to complete Good Laboratory Practice training.

Health & Safety Training
All Douglas employees complete general Health & Safety training within the first 3 months of employment irrespective of their area of responsibility.
Employees assigned to Production and/ or the QC Laboratory areas will also be required to undertake specific Health & Safety training from the first day of employment, including but may not be limited to:
• Laboratory Health & Safety
• Spill & Respirator Training
• Chemical Safety Awareness
• Manual Handling/ Lifting in the workplace
• Machine Safety Awareness
• Hazard & Documentation Training

On-The-Job Training (“Buddy” System)
“Buddy” training is where a junior employee is partnered with a competent, senior employee who in the first instance explains and demonstrates the job-activities required and then is available to the junior employee to answer questions and give advice.
It is the primary method used within Douglas for broadening employee skills. It is particularly appropriate for developing skills unique to an employee's area of responsibility.

Authorised Person Training
Authorised Person training is for competent and experienced employees who have been identified as suitable candidates to take on the role of Authorised Person to do Quality Assurance duties on the line in either Manufacturing or Packing.

Refresher Training
Ongoing training of staff shall be undertaken as directed by the Team Leader, Manager or Training department in response to:
• Newly issued SOPs (as identified)
• cGxP requirements (annually)
• Quality refresher (as identified)
• Authorised Person refresher (annually)
• Employee transfers from one activity to another; and/or from one department to another (as identified)

Computer Skills Training
Training will be provided to employees as is identified by the Team Leader, Manager or Training department in introductory to advanced features of:
• SAP
• MS Word
• MS Excel
• MS PowerPoint
• Lotus Notes
