The foods we eat are digested by the body so the nutrients, building blocks and cofactors in them can be used to support the many metabolic processes that the body carries out on a daily basis, to maintain health and wellbeing. For this to happen efficiently the body requires an ongoing supply of energy to use as fuel to drive many daily processes it performs. Energy production requires a wide range of nutrients and cofactors, if dietary sources are insufficient to meet the body’s daily needs nutrient deficiencies or imbalances may occur, energy production is reduced and cellular metabolic processes slow down. This can lead to the accumulation of wastes and toxins in the cells which impairs their ability to function, for some individuals this can impact on their energy levels and muscle health.
In addition to the above for individuals wanting to support cellular energy levels and muscle health, making some dietary changes and including mild aerobic exercise may assist in improving their quality of life. Dietary recommendations include: reducing their daily intake of refined sugars and increasing their intake of green leafy vegetables, choose low glycaemic carbohydrate sources, and include Omega-3 Fish Oils.
