Jeff Douglas has been honoured at the Advancing Manufacturing Aotearoa (AMA) Awards with the inaugural Lifetime Legacy Award.

This prestigious accolade recognises Jeff’s extraordinary contribution, visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to New Zealand’s manufacturing sector over the past 30 years. Jeff's daughter, Katherine Douglas, and his brother, Richard Douglas, accepted the award on Jeff's behalf.

Over three decades, Jeff has helped transform Douglas from a domestic family business into a globally recognised pharmaceutical manufacturer exporting to more than 50 countries. Under his leadership, Douglas has continued to invest in high-value research, development, and specialised manufacturing here in New Zealand – at a time when many organisations were moving operations offshore.

Jeff’s commitment to innovation and quality has helped position Douglas as a trusted manufacturer in highly regulated international markets, including securing FDA approvals that demonstrated New Zealand companies can compete successfully on the world stage.

Beyond commercial success, the judging panel acknowledged Jeff’s grounded and values-led leadership style, describing his impact as one that extends well beyond the business itself. His focus on people, humility, integrity, and creating an environment where others can thrive has shaped not only Douglas, but also contributed to the wider manufacturing sector and community through the work of the Douglas Charitable Trust.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the AMA Judging Panel for recognising the profound impact of Jeff’s leadership within Douglas and across New Zealand manufacturing.
